Yaks Yak: Animal Word Pairs

Yaks Yak: Animal Word Pairs
by Linda Sue Park
illustrated by Jennifer Black Reinhardt

Homographs - words that are spelled and pronounced the same, but have different meanings.

Have you ever wondered what it would look like to see bats bat or steers steer?

This book is filled with two page illustrations showing such anthropomorphic animal antics and more.  The only words on the page are the homographs and a very small text box with the definition of the verb form of the word.
Bright, well detailed water color and ink illustrations lend to the enjoyment of the book.

In all there are 18 word pairs.  In the back of the book is a complete list of all the words along with a small history of the background of both the animal's name and the verb form of the word.
