Twelve year old Dipper Pines and his twin sister Mabel are spending the summer visiting their Great-Uncle (Grunkle) Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon. Grunkle Stan runs a kitschy tourist trap known as The Mystery Shack, where his goal is to con gullible tourists out of their money. Dipper is immediately suspicious of Gravity Falls and the unexplained things that happen there, and when he stumbles upon a mysterious journal, he learns that his suspicions aren’t as crazy; Gravity Falls is full of gnomes, ghosts, unicorns and much more! As he and Mable set out to discover as much as they can, they end up uncovering something much bigger, and Grunkle Stan just might be at the heart of it all.
This show is amazing! I cannot express that enough! At face value, this is a fun cartoon about a couple of pre-teens who discover that the world is full of magic. But as their story unfolds, the mystery of Gravity Falls and Grunkle Stan’s deepest secrets are slowly revealed. The show’s writers do a great job building and revealing a truly gripping plot while maintaining the pace and enthusiasm of a children’s show. Plus, for the truly dedicated, there are hidden riddles and ciphers to be solved that uncover even more mystery!
