Noragami: Stray God, Volume 1 by Adachitoka

Yato is a god for hire.  He also has no shrine to call his own.  So for 5 Yen, he will solve your problems!  Yato has huge plans to soon become the number one god in all of Japan.  However, he can't seem to keep his shinki (assistant) and desperately needs to find a replacement.  Yato takes all kinds of odd jobs from finding a stray cat to taking care of bullies at school.

Noragami is an interesting dip into the supernatural realm.  The novel follows the adventures of Yato, a god without a shrine.  It follows him from case to case and all the people he comes into contact with.  This first volume sets up the supernatural world that Noragami takes place in and allows the reader to gain a better understanding of various aspects of Japanese culture.  The artwork is fairly standard, with some confusion in the action scenes.  This title is better suited for older teens and adults due to some content and language.  Noragami is a pleasant escape into the supernatural realm.

You can find Noragami: Stray God, Volume 1 by Adachitoka on the VBPL Catalog. If you enjoyed Noragami, you may want to try Seraph of the End by Takaya Kagami or Blue Exorcist by Kazue Kato.
