Ooku: The Inner Chambers, Vol. 1
Ooku is a series of manga with all the dialogue in Shakespearean English, about the Edo period in Japan. There is a deadly "red-face pox" affecting primarily the young men of Japan. With so many men dying off, the women have to step in and take over traditionally male tasks. Even the shogun has been replaced by a woman, but this is kept a secret elsewhere to prevent Japan from looking weak in the eyes of other countries.
In Volume 1, Mizuno decides to join the inner chambers at Ooku, which is totally secluded from the outside world and houses only men who serve the shogun. Mizuno doesn't know or understand all the customs at first, and commits faux pas until he gets the hang of things.
If you enjoy Ooku, you might like the graphic novel series by Brian K. Vaughan, Y: The Last Man, where not only are many of the men dying off, but all men (except one) died simultaneously.
