You can enjoy the newest addition to the Mad Max series, Mad Max: Fury Road, with or without having seen the original movies with Mel Gibson. In a world with little water and little gasoline (or as they call it, "guzzoline"), Furiosa (Charlize Theron) tries to save a group of women from their captive lives serving Immortan Joe as his wives. She plans to take them to the "green place," far across the desert, and along the way, they run across Max (Tom Hardy) and get pursued by Immortan Joe's legion of fatally loyal Half-Lives.
It's a fun movie that you can either take at face value (look at all the action!) or search for deeper meaning in (the world-building taking place here is incredible). And it is honestly the only action movie I've personally seen that didn't shoe-horn a romantic subplot in to appeal to a wider audience. It knows what it is, and what it is is fun.
