Once Upon an Alphabet: Short Stories for all the Letters by Oliver Jeffers

Once Upon an Alphabet is an A to Z short story collection by well know children's book author/illustrator Oliver Jeffers. Each letter of the alphabet has it's own story, with a few weaving together throughout. This over-sized collection's charm lies within Jeffer's trademark illustrations and witty tone. My personal favorite was "O" a story of an owl and octopus who search for problems to solve. And I loved the real life quality of  the illustrations for "E" and "Q" - which you will need to see in person to appreciate.

Chock full of rich vocabulary and quirky humor, I recommend this book to school-aged readers who are looking for an entertaining and quick read. Jeffer's is also perfect for adults who appreciate the art of children's books.
