How I Live Now (DVD)

Based on the book by the same name by Meg Rosoff, How I Live Now is the story of Daisy, an American girl who is visiting her cousins in the English countryside when World War III starts. We follow Daisy (played by Saoirse Ronan, who you may remember from The Lovely Bones or Hanna) as she tries to sort out how to deal with all of her problems, the least of which is the war: anorexia, voices in her head, and her romantic relationship with her oldest cousin.

The book is young adult fiction, but the film is rated R for violence, disturbing images, language, and some sexuality.

If you have read the book before and are a book purist, you may be disappointed to find out that a few things were rearranged for the movie, such as two characters being combined into one, a new character added, and the physical description of the oldest cousin being quite different from how he was described in the book.

If you enjoy this movie, you might also like the book, How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff, or perhaps Tomorrow, When the War Began.
