Hello in There: A Big Sister's Book of Waiting by Jo Witek

As an older sister, I really wish this book had existed while my mother was pregnant with my little sister. Jo Witek's Hello in There is one of the most adorable books about bringing home a new baby I have ever seen!

Throughout the story, a little girl awaiting the arrival of her new baby sister or brother, sings and talks to her mother's belly. She questions the conditions of the womb, "Is it dark in there?" while assuring her sibling that she will do her sisterly duties and chase away the darkness. She even draws pictures of what the new baby may look like.

One of the best features of this book is the expanding belly of the mom, complete with a flap to reveal the growing baby and "wallpaper"  that reflects whatever the sister outside is doing.

A wonderful and simple story, this is fantastic to share with even future big brothers, and perhaps the boy version will be along soon. For similar books to acclimate a child to a new sibling, share aloud to a pregnant belly, or just for a fun read, you may also try Don't Eat the Baby or Ma! There's Nothing to do Here!
