Ribbit! by Rodrigo Folgueira

Ribbit, by Rodrigo Folgueira is a wonderful heart-warming tale about a little pig sitting in the frog pond.  Why is the pig sitting in the pond?  And why is he saying "ribbit"?  The frogs are confused and a little offended, until they discover the pig's true intentions...
This delightful picture book provides an excellent chance for parents and their children to read together over the summer.  The book has a quirky and fun message about how to start a friendship that readers of all ages will appreciate.  The structure of the dialogue offers many opportunities for children to shout out animal sounds and practice their phonological awareness.  For those looking for a loud and silly read to share with their children during the Summer Reading Challenge, take a big leap into Ribbit!

For other charmingly silly books that let you practice your animal sounds, check out The Seals on the Bus, by Lenny Hort, or What the Ladybug Heard, by Julia Donaldson.
