Let's Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir) by Jenny Lawson

...Note: If you are offended by swearing and prefer your humor to remain politically correct it would be best to skip this one entirely...

I recently took an 8 hour road trip to a family wedding with my husband, 2 year-old and family dog. It was a longggggg trip. Luckily I got my hands on the audio of Jenny Lawson's Let's Pretend This Never Happened right before I left. This book, read by the author, is one of the funniest and at times disturbing memoirs I have read in years. It kept us both awake and laughing for the entire drive.

Let's Pretend This Never Happened covers some of the humorous highlights of Jenny's life - the events that made her the person she is today. It includes everything from her childhood in rural Texas, the time she got stuck inside a gutted deer, meeting her husband, her experience accidentally (almost) over dosing on laxatives, dealing with sever social anxiety, becoming a mother, fighting off a swarm of crows who were trying to remove her dead dog from his get the picture.

Lawson's writing is smart, her experience human and her delivery hysterical.

To get a feel for Jenny's style (yes, after listening to this book I feel we are on a first name basis) visit her insanely popular blog at then checkout Let's Pretend This Never Happened for a good laugh (and to make you feel better about your own crazy childhood) at VBPL.
