Aquaman Vol 1: The Trench by Geoff Johns

This blog is about Aquaman.

Don't stop reading!  Aquaman's great, I promise.

We've all heard it before.  Aquaman has been largely considered the long-running joke of the DC Universe.  Yeah, he can talk to fish.  But did you know that Aquaman also threw an angry polar bear at seal poachers?  Here are some other fun facts about Aquaman.

As it turns out, Aquaman is a pretty amazing superhero.  In Aquaman Vol 1:  The Trench, writer Geoff Johns sets out to remind the world of this fact.

Arthur Curry, A.K.A. Aquaman, decides to start a life on the surface with his wife, Mera.  But it's not long before nightmarish creatures come crawling out of the depths of the ocean and threatening the seaside town where Aquaman lives.  There's blood in the water, and the monsters are coming.  Can the King of Atlantis protect his new home from becoming an all-you-can-eat buffet?  Dive into Aquaman Vol. 1: The Trench, to find out!

This is an exciting new edition to DC's New 52.  Geoff Johns artfully pokes fun at the misconceptions surrounding Aquaman while simultaneously re-establishing the aquatic hero's reputation as a strong and noble champion.  With fast paced action and epic displays of heroism, Arthur Curry gets the treatment he deserves.  The artwork is also spot on, amplifying the epic moments of the story with visual delights.  You're shore going to like this story: it'll reel you right in!

If you're looking for more of DC's new comics, try searching the catalog for The New 52If you're looking for other environmentally concerned heroes, be sure to check out Animal Man and Swamp Thing.
